Please Note: The application deadline for this post has now passed.

Post Introduction

As Financial Communications Manager, you’ll help to deliver a professional communications service to the Pensions Board and the Church Commissioners, who together manage about £15bn in investments across different asset classes. You’ll also work with other teams in the National Church Institutions to support finance-related communications, take advantage of opportunities, and handle crises.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to promoting our industry-leading work on Responsible Investment.  Your main responsibilities will include:
  • Proactively identifying PR opportunities and preparing messaging for the Church of England's National Investing Bodies
  • Responding professionally to media enquiries from news organisations
  • Supporting internal stakeholders in developing and communicating their core messaging
You will be involved in strategic communications planning and also have the chance to work on creative content production for our digital platforms. Building strong relationships with financial and specialist journalists, managing media requests, and providing support for media training are key aspects of the role. And you will deputise for the Head of Financial Communications when required.

About You
We’re looking for someone who has:
  • An excellent understanding of financial communications
  • Good media contacts - and experience of working with mainstream and specialist media
  • A track record of delivering text to specification to tight deadlines
  • An interest in Sustainable Investment
A background in journalism and/or communications in a large, high-profile organisation would be an advantage.

The Church of England is for everyone and we want to reflect the diversity of the community the Church serves across the whole country. Therefore, while of course we welcome all applications from interested and suitably experienced people, we particularly encourage applicants from UK Minoritised Ethnicities (UKME)/Global Majority Heritage (GMH) and other under-represented groups.

More details are available in the role profile. The closing date for applications is 28 May 2024.

What we offer
Our benefits include:
  • A salary of £56,833 plus age-related pension contributions between 8-15% of salary. We will also match any pension contributions you make up to an additional 3% of salary.
  • 25 days annual leave (increasing to 30 days within 5 years) plus three additional days
  • Flexible working hours and location, with an expectation of three days per week in our office in Westminster
  • Structured induction programme and access to a range of development opportunities including apprenticeships
  • Access to Occupational Health, an Employee Assistance Programme and opportunities to join the Civil Service Sports & Social Club, and get involved in a range of staff networks, groups and societies.
We try to be as flexible as we can in your work pattern to support you with other commitments, and to give a good work-life balance.
