ARE YOU THE SENIOR PROJECT OFFICER WE ARE SEEKING?
We are pleased to offer a unique opportunity to join our Technology Services Department within the Portfolio and Transformation function at the Church of England. As a Senior Project Officer, you will play a crucial role in supporting key technology governance bodies, namely the Technical Design Authority (TDA) and the Cyber Security and Information Governance (CSIG) group. This role offers exposure to major transformation programmes and the chance to contribute to shaping how project resources and priorities are managed and communicated across the NCIs (National Church Institutions).
You do not need deep technical or project management experience to succeed in this role—curiosity, attention to detail, and a proactive approach are key.
You will support the smooth running of governance, transformation and project activities, including:
- Organising meetings for TDA, CSIG and Technology teams, including scheduling, agenda preparation, minute-taking, and tracking actions
- Managing updates to governance frameworks and schedules
- Assisting in reporting on project progress, risks, resources and financials
- Developing and overseeing a project cross-charging framework based on team resource usage
- Processing project invoices and supporting finance tracking
- Maintaining structured documentation and records for projects, including SharePoint sites (internal and external)
- Preparing and analysing data (qualitative and quantitative) to support decision-making
- Coordinating communications across internal teams and external vendors
- Assisting with ITT preparation with the Vendor Manager
- Organising workshops, managing diaries, handling logistics and hospitality
- Supporting colleagues with task scheduling and project tools
- This is a fixed-term role with the expectation of working 1-2 days a week from your primary office location - Church House, London.
You will need to be/have:
- Strong organisational and administrative skills
- Experience managing sensitive materials and minute-taking
- Proven ability to analyse and present information clearly
- Ability to work flexibly, independently and collaboratively across teams
- Confidence liaising with stakeholders at all levels
- Ability to produce accurate work under tight deadlines
- Experience managing project-related documentation and governance reporting

- A salary of £40,572 per annum, plus age-related pension contributions between 8-15% of salary. We will also match any pension contributions you make up to an additional 3% of your salary.
- 25 days annual leave (increasing to 30 days within 5 years) plus eight bank holidays and three additional days (pro-rated if working part-time).
