Overview

The Archbishops’ Advisers for Appointments and Development (AAAD) supports senior staff with Appointments within the Church and works closely with Dioceses to identify and support those with the potential for senior office/wider responsibility.

It also provides leadership development, including coordinating the support to the Ministerial Development Review (MDR) process.

Post Introduction

Introduction

The main purpose of this role is to support the Strategic Leadership Development Programme (SLDP) as part of the Senior Leadership Development work of the Archbishop’s Advisers for Appointments and Development Team.

As Project Administrator, you will provide administrative support to the processes used for the development of leaders within the Church of England to ensure that the clergy receive a high quality and efficient service.

Key duties include:

  • Providing project support to new and on-going development initiatives including, but not restricted to, the Strategic Leadership Development Programme (SLDP).
  • Assisting the SLDP Programme Lead with comprehensive programme support including logistical support in planning the modules and other leadership development events, attending and managing the logistics during modules and events, liaising with SLDP participants through group communications as well as one.

Role Responsibility

The Role 

  • To project manage and streamline the administration and logistical requirements for all modules and other events for all Cohorts of the Strategic Leadership Development Programme (SLDP)
  • To attend SLDP and other events and support the SLDP Programme Lead with all element of logistics
  • To liaise with and support SLDP participants, both as a group via email and individually by phone, email and in person on modules and other events
  • To monitor and update the budget for all Cohorts of the SLDP
  • To keep SLDP participants’ Learning & Development data up-to-date
  • To undertake research into venues, hotels and other aspects to assist with event design
  • To deliver high quality documents and slides to support both SLDP work and contributions to the governance committee overseeing the department’s work
  • Use Microsoft Excel to produce and create project timelines and other planning documents
  • To provide some diary management to corresponding team members (booking meetings and rooms, administration support) and to efficiently organise both internal and external meetings

The Ideal Candidate

The requirements for the role

  • Excellent telephone manner and a comfortable communicator both verbally and orally
  • Strong IT skills – in particular PowerPoint, Excel and Word
  • Planning and organising skills
  • Ability to assist with project work
  • Ability to carry out administrative duties to a high standard 
  • The ability to proactively contribute ideas
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work comfortably with competing priorities
  • Diary Management skills
  • The ability to work with highly confidential documents (using and storing)
  • A team player, able to work well both within a team and individually
  • GCSE Maths and English with ‘A’ Levels or equivalent
