WE ARE HIRING FOR A MISSION & PASTORAL SERVICE CASE OFFICER
We are seeking a Mission & Pastoral Service Case Officer to join us, the post holder will work within the Mission & Pastoral Service Team. They work to oversee and manage the decision making processes and provide advice under the Mission and Pastoral Measure 2011 (MPM), the Church Property Measure 2018 (CPM), the Patronage (Benefices) Measure 1986 and the Church Representation Rules, and responsibilities relating to chancel repair liability (CRL).
The purpose of this role is to help diocesan teams to scope what the changes should be to local worship, mission and ministry, how it could legally be brought into effect, and how to manage the processes for decision making, and the transfer of assets that are affected by the change.

Summary of main responsibilities
- Specialist advice and guidance to diocesan teams and parishes on the development of pastoral proposals.
- Contribute to research tasks, proposal development, stakeholder engagement and other key tasks as part of the review process.
- Development and delivery of content for online training sessions and webinars.
- Housing loans and financial management advice.
- Risk and budget management.
- Reviewing and updating Code of Practice, case manuals and other tools used by the team to advise dioceses and parishes.
Key role requirements
- This is a hybrid role with the expectation to work from the office (Church House, London or The Old Brewhouse - Bishopthorpe, York) 1-3 days per week.
- The post holder is expected to travel within England with occasional overnight stays when required.
Please note: This role is also suited for candidates who choose to work from home. If you opt to be a homeworker, you are responsible for your own travel expenses to your primary/base location - Church House, as the role requires you to attend infrequent face-to-face meetings 1-2 days per month.
You will need to be/have:
- Ability to juggle, priorities and manage complex caseloads simultaneously.
- A key eye for detail.
- Experience of managing complex administrative legal systems.
- Strong project management skills, this includes meeting management skills.
- Strong data skills – used to using specialist software, internet-based research and posting information on websites.
- An understanding and empathy with the structure and culture of the Church of England (Desirable).
- Knowledge and experience of the Mission and Pastoral Measure 2011 (Desirable).
- A valid full driving licence (Desirable).
- Project management qualification (Desirable).

Your Salary
- A salary of £48,577 per annum, plus age-related pension contributions between 8-15% of salary. We will also match any pension contributions you make up to an additional 3% of your salary.
